Kids don’t like to wake up especially for school. Luckily, we have Thing 4 the human alarm clock. If her racket starting at 5:30am doesn’t do the trick, she will climb all over your bed and sit on you. I take her from room to room to get the boys up for [...]

It’s No Fluke
February 27th, 2012 · No Comments
Just in case you thought the other day’s rambling was a fluke, I present these which were all asked, one after another, within one minute.
What happens when you eat a flower?
What is salad made out of?
One time I ate a shark and it was really good. It was a fire shark.
What do you make [...]

Winning
February 27th, 2012 · No Comments
When you have two older brothers, winning is not something you experience often. So when given the chance you take it.
Thing 3 almost never, ever finishes dinner. He likes grilled cheese, milk, and fruit and not much else, literally. He doesn’t eat any meat because, he claims, he is allergic (not true, [...]

Not Every Day
February 26th, 2012 · No Comments
Here’s something you don’t see every day. Things 1,2,and 3 all sitting down, quietly, and reading at the library.
And now you see why. The promise of a visit to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream!

Wii
Car DVD players
Oreos
Ice cream
Oreo ice cream
Nintendo DS
Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, [...]

Try Anything

Thing 4 is a great sleeper. At two years old she actually asks to go to bed when she’s tired, usually just before 8pm, and the bedtime routine is literally 30 seconds. It’s a nice contrast with Thing 3 whose bedtime routine can take 30 minutes.
There is one slight problem, though, with Thing [...]
A Flurry Of Curiosity
February 24th, 2012 · No Comments
Children have a wonderful curiosity about the world around them. And, like a typical 4 year old, there is no end to Thing 3’s curiosity.
And there is no end to his questions. From the moment he wakes until he finally drifts off to sleep, there is a constant stream of talking [...]

Giants and Beanstalks
February 24th, 2012 · No Comments
Thing 3: Mommy, can I climb the beanstalk up to the clouds with a giant?
SuburbanMommy: Sure. Do you know any giants?
Thing 3: Eli Manning!
Oh. And Thing 3 also likes to put fruit snacks on his face. Why? He says he is being Yoshi. No, it doesn’t make any sense. [...]
