While I don't drive a minivan, I have a friend who swears by it. He's a contractor and has a huge truck to fill his 'manly' quota but goes on and on about how cool his Honda Odyssey is.

Mini vans rule! Seriously, for the money, what other vehicle can you buy that has seating for seven plus cargo space, can be converted to all cargo space, and gets good mileage? SUVs that seat that many either have no cargo space or are so big you have to take out a home equity loan to fill the tank. I spend about equal time in our Dodge Caravan and Buick station wagon (yes, they do exist), and I'm proud of it!

I'm not a fan of minivans, but... then again, I drive a Civic (seriously).

Personally, I'm looking forward to the SUV next year...

But, hey, I gotta give you props. If you drive a minivan, drive a minivan! No shame. (And if you're gonna go minivan, the Odyssey is the way to go!) -B

I'm so with you on this one. Leather, sunroof, great stereo and enough room to stash my beloved kids AND my beloved bicycle.

Nothing uncool about being there for your family and ensuring they get around safely and comfortably. Some of our neatest adventures have happened in our amazing silver wondervan.

I'll never understand why society is so driven by optics.

I couldn't drive a minivan.

Unless it had flames on the side and maybe ejection seats to use in case of misbehaving kids.

My wife (Action Girl) keeps talking about getting a mini van. I don't know. For some reason, I'm just not big on them.

That's not to say that I'm a "Manly" man who only drives F-350 monster trucks and eats three penny nails for lunch. Far from it. My car is an elderly Subaru Legacy. I like the all wheel drive and the low profile that lets me load up the roof rack with out throwing out my back. Two kids and no dog fits the 'bru pretty easily. If we had one more baby, I'd probably get a mini van though. Cars don't make a man. That's a silly notion. Obviously, it's defined by grunting when lifting stuff and the ability to open pickle jars with no mechanical assistance (grunting optional).

Love this post! I think they are all secretly jealous. One of my guy friends (a dad of three) swears he'd by a minivan if he didn't live in Berkeley. He's afraid of being pelted with expensive vegetables and hemp necklaces. Ha.

Sorry, we fight over the old F-150 than the Saturn Relay 3.

Minivans would be better if they had a manual transmission.
