Morning Surprise

Thing 2 wakes up early, usually around 5:30am, and likes to come into our room. It may seem like an early wake up call, but it’s much better than him waking up at 5:30am and screaming until we get him.

He’s very snuggly in the morning, and he likes to lay between SuburbanMommy and me, alternating between sharing her pillow and mine. Often he falls asleep, or sometimes we turn on Mickey Mouse.

Today, he did all of those things, then this happened.

Thing 2: I need to go pee pee

This was a breakthrough, he never asks to go potty. My immediate response was

Daddy: OK, let’s go!

Then, after a few seconds the realization set in.

Daddy: Do you mean you already went pee pee?

Thing 2: Yes

Then I spotted the big wet circle in my bed.

Must See TV – Jon & Kate

You may have heard about this family. A couple had three year old twins, then had sextuplets. As in six at the same time! I remember seeing them on the Today Show when they were born. Now, they have cameras following them all day, showing their daily life with 8 kids, which is quite comical. And I thought my days could be a challenge.

I’ve only seen one episode of Jon & Kate plus eight, but it is must see TV for anyone with small kids. I can relate to everything they are going through (on a smaller scale of course).

In the episode I saw, they were on vacation and endured flight delays and bad weather resulting in a 14 hour plane ride. Given my own experience with toddler plane travel, I can just imagine the other passengers.

Jon and Kate are very easy going and laugh at themselves a lot. I guess you’d have to with 6 toddlers. My favorite part was when Jon was showing a walk-in closet where he set up his computer, surrounded by hanging clothes. It was the only place there was room for an office. And the only place he could get some peace. Buried in the closet.

Funny thing is, I *completely* understand why he did it.

Home Alone Part Deux

Looking back at my home alone weekend, I can laugh at it now. We all made it through. No major incidents to report. The house is a little dirtier. My hair a little grayer.

Parenting Poll Of The Week – Kids and Television

I was a bit surprised by the results of last week’s poll. Most of you said that 3 kids was the ideal number. Since the average is closer to 2, I was expecting that to be the most popular answer.

This weeks poll is about kids and watching television. I don’t mind my kids watching TV. I usually welcome it. But they also don’t watch very much, which I guess is a good thing.

Home Alone

I am home alone with Things 1-3 this weekend.? SuburbanMommy has abandoned me in favor of a weekend of spa treatments, drinking, fine food, and Oscars.

We are halfway through Saturday and so far so good.? We went to a birthday party in the neighborhood this morning.? Right now, Thing 3 is napping, Thing 2 is watching Madagascar, and Thing 1 is upstairs in his room doing art.? At least I hope he is.? Last I saw, he was looking for a pair of scissors.

I think I’m good for the next hour or so, when the baby wakes up, the movie ends, and their batteries have recharged.? That should kick it up a notch or two.? Wish me luck.
